  • 50 States' K-12 Employment Opportunities - Looking for a job in a different state? This site from the University of Kentucky includes links to job search sites and certification requirements for the fifty states.
  • K12 Jobs - Create an account (free) and you will have access to vacancies (you can search by your field and by state), a list of upcoming job fairs, job search strategies, and information on licensing and certification offices. Some states have more schools using it than others, but it is another possible job search tool.
  • Teach for America - This program is dedicated to eliminating educational inequality. Teaching positions are available throughout the the United States. Applications will soon be accepted for the 2008-2009 school year. (Two-year commitment required.)
  • National Educators Employment Network - This database allows you to search for vacancies in your teaching field in various school districts across the U.S.
  • NationJob Network Education Jobs Page - This database provides listings for
    te
    aching and education-related positions - everything from elementary teaching and speech-language pathologist positions to yoga instructor positions!
  • Project Connect - nationwide on-line vacancy database run by and for education. School districts enter vacancies directly into the Project Connect Database which means that vacancies are real and districts are seriously looking for candidates. Contact EPCS for ID and password.

Alternative / Independent / Charter Schools:

  • National Association of Independent Schools - This non-profit organization represents 1300 independent schools and associates nationwide with affiliates abroad. Find their philosophy (mission statement) and job bank on this site.
  • Council for American Private Education - Includes a job bank and descriptions of various types of independent schools (i.e. Montessori, Christian, Waldorf schools, etc.).
  • Association for Experiential Education -This site includes job listings for teachers, camp counselors, corporate team builders, therapists, challenge course practitioners, environmental educators, guides, instructors, coaches, mental health professionals, etc.
  • Wisconsin Charter Schools
    • The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction provides a plethora of information on it's charter schools. Use the menu bar on the right side of the page to see a directory and map of Wisconsin charter schools or to search for a particular charter school.
    • Wisconsin Charter Schools Association - This site gives background information and also includes links to a variety of sources on charter schools.
  • U.S. Charter Schools - You can search for charter schools by state on this website. They also have a job board where you can search for vacancies in charter schools across the country.
  • National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools - This non-profit group is designed to connect and support alternative education organizations. Their mission and job postings can be found on their website.

**Important note: As you pursue an international teaching job, be sure to do your homework (i.e. request references from teachers who have taught for organization you are interested in working with, contact the Better Business Bureau and Federal, etc.) so that you can thoroughly have confidence that you are accepting a legitimate offer from a reputable organization.

  • National Public School Locator - This site allows you to search for public schools anywhere in the United States by grade, type of school, etc.
  • Wisconsin - WINSS School Success Guide - Provides informational data for each of the public schools in Wisconsin.
  • The Educator's Reference Desk - Ask ERIC on-line search for education research. You can find everything from how to research a school you're interested in working at, to lesson plans. This is a site to keep bookmarked!

  • UW-Madison: Education Academic Services - Click here to find out more about the teaching license application process and how to navigate the job search before you receive your license.
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction: Licensing Information - Need to apply for a license, permit, registration, or certification in Wisconsin? Start here to find out how to apply for these types of services.
  • Departments of Education by State - If you need to obtain an out-of-state teaching license, you will want to visit that state's Department of Education website to find out their requirements. This page, located on the U.S. Department of Public Instruction website, provides links to the Department of Education for all 50 states.
