September - October-November

Research EPCS credential services – request reference letters be sent to EPCS for storage, distribution, and authentication putting employers at ease. See Credential Services online.
____2.
Develop your job-search materials, i.e. resume. Attend a workshop, distribute reference forms to cooperating teachers, etc., check out on-line resources Job-Search page, or handouts and other resources at EPCS.
____3.
Attend EPCS workshops. See EPCS Workshop website for details.
____4.
Make an appointment with an EPCS consultant to review resume, portfolio, and discuss your job search.
____5.
Meet with Education Academic Services (EAS), B117 Education Building to be sure you are meeting all field-certification requirements.
____6.

Check EPCS On-line regularly to verify receipt of references and for on-campus interview opportunities.

December - January - February -March

Sign up for an EPCS Job Search Account See info on EPCS Job Search account and how it can help you!
____2.

Develop your portfolio completion plan - addressing the 15 UW Standards with evidence: select artifacts, organize presentation.

____3.

Research school districts and respective application deadlines. (i.e., MMSD application dealine is March 31st) Check important school district links on the EPCS web site.

____4.

Actively apply for positions when you become aware of vacancies from EPCS or another source.

____5.

Complete the WECAN application located at https://services.education.wisc.edu/wecan/ if seeking a position in WI. For a listing of WI districts currently using the system, check the EPCS home page.

____6.

Request your UW-Madison Credential file be uploaded to WECAN through your EPCS Jo Search menu.

April - May

____1.
Complete Wisconsin Teaching License application available on-line at DPI http://www.dpi.state.wi.us/dpi/dlsis/tel/applications.html
____2.
Return license application to EAS (B117 Ed Bldg) with fee for processing prior to graduation. (See more info on the EAS website)
____3.
Prepare for Portfolio exhibition, check with supervisor on progress and revisions
____4.

Release portfolio through your EPCS Job search menu. Is your teaching philosophy clearly stated & connected to examples of how you bring these ideas into the classroom?

Attend recruitment fairs. See EPCS Fairs for details.

June - Summer
Summer is the peak hiring season, don't delay in applying when you hear of openings
____1.
Meet with EPCS to refine and print portfolio selections.

Research substitute-teaching opportunities in school districts of interest.
____3.

Keep EPCS informed of your current email and mailing address and phone number and update your employment status online.

To update your contact information, in EPCS On-line, click on the Email EPCS icon to send us an email.

Let EPCS know when you get a job. You can login to EPCS On-line and simply update your status information.
