Once you open a JOB SEARCH ACCOUNT with EPCS, you will have access to the exclusive EPCS UW-Madison School of Education Vacancy List service. You can receive these by mail and/or access them on-line. See below for more details on Vacancy Information.
***************************************************************** EPCS Vacancy Information Following the complete processing of your JOB SEARCH ACCOUNT, you will receive a Registrant Information Listing, confirming your registrant code sheet entries; please check it for accuracy. Information from employers about vacant positions for which you qualify, in the geographic area(s) you indicate on your Registrant Code Sheet, will be sent to you:
We subscribe to a number of newspapers and publications which list vacancies. A limited number of openings are processed from these sources, so you should consult the publications in our office or the library for complete vacancy information. Click here for additional K-12 internet sites. During the peak hiring season, you may also receive calls directly from our office or from hiring officials, upon our referral. During the summer, for example, schools often want to make immediate contacts, so we may notify you by email, or give the school district your phone number, in addition to processing the vacancy by our regular means. If you need to locate in a specific area, you should phone or email or write letters of inquiry to the schools in that area to determine if they will have a vacancy for which you qualify. School district contact address information is available in our office and some districts are listed on our website. Allow yourself some geographic mobility. If you restrict your geographic area initially you may not receive many vacancy listings and will then need to be very active in your job search, writing letters and contacting prospective employers on your own. PEOPLE PLACE-BOUND TO THE MADISON AREA SHOULD FOLLOW THE ABOVE PROCEDURE. The job market is very tight in our area, and local employers may not need to publicize their vacancies because of the abundance of qualified candidates who contact them directly.
