WHAT IS PROJECT CONNECT?
Project Connect is a national cooperative venture between school districts and university to get education staffing on the Internet. It is designed to be simple and easy to use. It began in 1993 when a national task force of school district and college personnel from AAEE and AASPA (see organizations at main menu) began meeting to establish standards for vacancy information. These standards allow a free flow of information within the education community. Today, Project Connect is the only World Wide Web site dedicated to education employment and run by and for Education.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
School Districts enter vacancies directly via the
World Wide Web that go to:
* An on-line database that teachers can search.
* An e-mail address (called a listserve) that sends the vacancy listing to national
or regional colleges.
* Can remain on the system until a district wishes to remove them.
Colleges receive these vacancies in a standard electronic format and redistribute
them to their teacher candidates. Since these listings are electronic and in
a standard format, colleges can quickly make them available to their teachers.
Colleges typically have at least several hundred teachers on their lists so
each listing reaches thousands of teachers very quickly.
Teachers then receive project connect vacancies directly from their college
placement offices or can search on-line for them via World Wide Web.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Since there are no for-profit services providers involved in Project Connect, there are no fees.
Your "cost" is the effort required to learn to understand and to implement Project Connect
and to spread the word. At any time, feel free to contact us with questions.
